Back in time, I had the chance to start my professional life in 3M, when there was a manufacturing plant in Valencia, Venezuela, South America. I had the chance to run three different positions: Logistics, EHS and Manufacturing. It was a great workplace.

Pros and Cons
Quality products and work environment
Only four locations at that time

I am very proud of my time at 3M. I got to work on many great projects that made the company a lot of money (note: my projects are not in the news for litigation against the company). I was subject matter expert in my field. I gained a lot of technical and leadership experience. I am grateful of the teams and business I supported. 3M is going through hard times, and they have to make business decisions to cut cost. My role was not seen as critical to 3M's core strategy and I was laid off with ten years of experience. This hurt because I am well rounded and could have been transitioned to another role. This did not happen. 3M is a great place to start your career. You will be given a lot of training and be opportunities to find your path forward. Could also be a great place to be is you are not ambitious. 3M is a company who prides itself on inclusion, diversity and retention. I would advise everyone who considers 3M to judge the company with its actions, not words.

Pros and Cons
Great pay and benefits, good location in the twin cities, a lot of flexibly
Unstable, little growth opportunity, uncaring management

Thinking about employees' health and safety is a great concern. I only worked for three months and quit job to take back my mother in law who was seriously ill due to chronic renal failure to my country.

Pros and Cons
Friendly office and Mark is great supervisor
I haven't seen any weakness.

3M's pay was ok. However, this company is a Union based company, so the employees basically run it. In my position as supervisor, decisions made by me by the rules were overruled by management above me due to letting union employees have their way. Also, as a (at the time) new supervisor verses the supervisors that have been there for years-this was a challenge! The older supervisor got their way on any and all decisions. I believe we can always Kaizan things and make them better but no management at this plant was interested in improvement.

Pros and Cons
Decent pay
No management support! Besides three or four older supervisor-all supervisors end up quitting.

Good pay with good benefits. Get to be a part of some really cool processes in manufacturing. Depending on what shift you work and area that you're working in can make it good or great. Short notice over time which means on Wednesday you find out if you have to work the weekend. There was times I worked 7 days a week for week(s)

Pros and Cons
Pay, profit sharing, 8hr shifts
You're just a number to the company. Rotating schedule

I started working in 3M Viet Nam in 1997, as a plant accountant but at that time our containers of machinery were in customs. I helped the forwarder to clear all these machinery containers so that 3M Viet Nam could start their first production as schedule. In the meantime I worked also as cost accounting as each items imported or bought locally need a cost report so the sales department could get approval from Management for their sales price. I was promoted to Supply Chain Manager couple years later and I had total 10 staff working at inventory planning, customer service, customs clearance. In 2007 I resigned and moved to an export company which my 3M Managing Director took position as Director. So I spent 10 years with 3M VN.

Pros and Cons
Free lunch for all staff, Birthday celebration for all staff, Health insurance
Nothing to complain when worked here from 1997-2007

Benefits great. Pay decent. Management horrible. Get ready to never see your family, AGAIN. Work overtime unnecessarily. Always promotes teamwork and never accomplish it. Rules change for some. No rules for others. Extremely stressful. Always problems.

Pros and Cons
Easy work.
HR will never help you with any issues. Never trust anything being told to you by higher ups.
