Worked there several years and leadership never showed appreciation for all extra hours and lacked expertise to make a decision. Poor project leaders. Very top heavy.

I work long hours to complete tasks because for the last 5 years my department has been understaffed and the positions designated to my department were utilized elsewhere and I was left to complete tasks alone. I was written up for attending my father's funeral, then publicly humiliated for not being at work and instead being at my in-law's bedside as he passed away. My manager criticizes every project I complete to corporate standards and tells me how everything I've done is wrong and pointless. The tasks themselves are fulfilling.

Pros and Cons
Fun tasks, co-workers, yearly reviews
Constant change of leadership, no teamwork, no room to move up

Academy Sports + Outdoors pretend that they are a family-focused company, but they aren't at all. They expect you to work while you're sick (even with a doctor's excuse) and to have no personal life whatsoever. My store director created the most hostile work environment I've ever been in. She would talk to all of the managers about each other's shortcomings and then go back to the other person and tell them that you said the terrible things that she had said about them. She would use this to pit us against each other so that we would rat each other out for any little mistake. She would also use hourly associates and the security cameras to spy on our shifts. If you requested PTO she would make you feel bad about using it and/or would write you up for using it. HR was a nightmare because they changed our rep out every couple months. I worked there for almost 7 years and it was hell. The turnover was so high and they didn't care that people wouldn't stay. Everyone was replaceable.

Pros and Cons
20% Discount, decent salary for managers
Toxic work culture, terrible turnover, no appreciation
