About Access Specialist

What does an Access Specialist do?

As access specialists, we work under the supervision of the patient access supervisor and are placed in the front-line. Ours is the first face that is seen when a patient enters a hospital or a clinic. We have to serve the patients and their caregivers. We are responsible for collecting and validating patient demographic data and their insurance information. We are also in charge of obtaining health along with financial and as well as religious information from the patients at the time of their admission to the hospital.

Core tasks:

  • preparing band for patient identification
  • obtaining signatures for patient's financial responsibility and treatment procedures
  • receiving and storing patient’s valuables
  • responding to the patient's concerns
  • maintaining a positive working relationship
