What does an Account Development Manager do?

As account development managers, we manage assigned customer accounts with an eye on growth opportunities within them. Our objective is not only to keep customers happy to retain them but to find opportunities for deeper account penetration, upselling, and cross-selling. In this sense our role is a mixture between account management and business development management.

Core tasks:

  • day-to-day management of existing customer accounts with a focus on expanding them
  • developing and executing account growth strategies
  • developing good understanding of customer base and serviced segments
  • networking and attending trade shows, seminars, and similar events
  • staying abreast of market trends
