ABCD is a section of the Community Action Network, which was established through the Economic Opportunity Act. The law is a comprehensive plan to improve the living conditions of all Americans. As a community action agency, ABCD has a tripartite committee structure. The committee is composed of members of the local private sector, public sector and low-income communities. These members are democratically elected by the local ABCD Advisory Committee through its peers. The leaders of each of these groups are collaborating to develop responses to the local needs of their worst-serving and highest-risk neighbors. ABCD provides employees and their families with a competitive comprehensive welfare plan, and they can flexibly choose a plan that meets their needs and lay the foundation for financial security. These include health insurance, dental insurance, flexible expenditure account (FSA), dependent care assistance plan (DCAP), life/disability insurance, voluntary deferred tax retirement plan, direct deposit, T Pass (MBTA) plan, paid vacation Plan, 12 holidays and paid parental leave.
