Cincinnati State can trace its origins to the Cincinnati Cooperative School of Technology (CCST), a two-year technical institute for high school graduates that was established by the Cincinnati Board of Education in 1966. The function of the school was to train technicians in a program combining college-level classroom instruction and cooperative work experience. This program operated in a portion of the facility at 3520 Central Parkway, which at the time was also the home to Courter Technical High School and former home to Central High School. In its first year, the college offered only four degree programs.

Adjunct Spanish Instructor
Overview:
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites candidates who are fully committed to the mission and values of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College to apply for the position of Spanish Adjunct instructor. Qualified candidates will be responsible for Spanish language instruction for courses in the Spanish Department.
Essential Duties:
- Instruct students in Spanish courses. Follow syllabi, course materials, and assignments to support course learning outcomes as defined by the Spanish Department and the State of Ohio
- Ensure that students achieve course learning outcomes as defined in the syllabus
- Maintain electronic records (using Blackboard) of student performance, progress, and attendance
- Complete, as directed, all start and end-of-semester responsibilities, including submission in Starfish of no-show rosters and final grades
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Spanish or related master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of teaching or industry experience
- Experience using online learning management systems (Blackboard)
- Experience working with students from diverse academic backgrounds and life experiences
- Ability to employ a range of online instructional technologies
- Flexible availability for online consultation with students

- Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Sociology and Anthropology — Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins.
- Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
