About Adoption Specialist

What does an Adoption Specialist do?

As Adoption Specialists, we are responsible for placing the child in a new family for adoption. We assess the child and the parent's needs to ensure that they can be fit together and that the adoptive parent can play the parent's role without any bias from the other children. We also make arrangements to place the child in permanent homes and ensure that they are well cared for. We are the main advisers to parents who are looking to adopt a child and act as mediators between the biological parents and the adoptive parents.

Core tasks:

  • act as advisers to adoptive parents
  • assess the needs of both the child and adoptive parent before the child move in
  • act as mediator mediators between the biological parents and the adoptive parents
  • place the child in foster homes or permanent homes
