Hired on in SC. I called the day of my start data and was told my position had been moved to southern Georgia in the middle of nowhere. I tried for 30 days (my trial period) and then gave notice. This felt like the ultimate in bait and switch to me.

Aflac was an amazing place to gain business to business selling experience with your mentor. I was able to close a healthy amount of businesses well learning how to manage self employed income. Managing accounts is an amazing feat to accomplish and you are able to help secure many people’s financial health with indemnity benefits. A small payments protects potential health costs when customers visit doctors or hospitals.

There are endless trainings and meetings for which you're never paid. Yet if you refuse to play ball on the basis of being your own boss (which they always say) then they'll punish you by taking your accounts away. They're obsessed with recruiting more than anything else and they'll jerk you around without a second of remorse. For example, they promoted a district manager to a regional manager position. She relocated from her home state, put up money to rent an office (all expenses such as these are on the agents themselves), and was in the process of building her team when they announced about two months later consolidation between my region and hers, with the new regional director already decided upon. She'd spent all of that time and money and they knocked her out of a job two months later, which they knew was coming when they offered her the job in the first place. Stay away.

Each individual region can be really great but it varies

I enjoyed working with AFLAC. I travelled all over North Carolina working with businesses and their employees to sign them up with great benefits. I have been gone from AFLAC since 1995 and am still getting a commission check for all the policies I sold.

Supposedly if you make enough phone calls you will gather more and more clients. If you don't mind rejection and hang ups you might like to work with Aflac. A lot of people seem to be doing quite well at it. It's a good product too.

This is the only organization I have ever worked where I felt the management (RSC) was working against me. The back stabbing and clicks were ridiculous. They hired anyone who applied and refused to train on products or sales techniques. The focus was on cold calling with no sales plans or focus. Multiple agents with limited experience would approach the same prospects sometimes the same day. The company is shifting their focus to brokers and providing better pricing to them then to their own agents. If you are interested in an insurance career look some where else.
