Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), founded in 1982 and headquartered in Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, United States, was a major command of the United States Air Force. In 2019, upon agreement with the National Defence Authorization Act, it was renamed as the United States Space Force and designated as the 6th serving branch of the United States Armed Forces. Its primary mission areas were National Security Space Launch, Space Control, and Force Enhancement. It operated via Satellites, Defence Satellite Communication System, MILSTAR, NATO III and IV, Global Positioning System, and Launch Vehicles including Atlas V, Delta IV, and Falcon 9. AFSPC had six host bases, Buckley AFB, Colorado, Los Angeles AFB, California, Patrick AFB and Cape Canaveral AFS, Florida, Peterson AFB, Colorado, Schriever AFB, Colorado, and Vandenberg AFB, California.
