JOB SUMMARY:
Previous Jet experience & CE-560XL type rating experience preferred
The TVA Fixed Wing pilot flies’ missions in support of TVA operations throughout the Tennessee Valley and United States. These missions include executive travel and support for TVA power production. Serves as pilot-in-command (PIC) or second-in-command (SIC) of turbine powered aircraft.
Manages all aspects of the mission in coordination with Aircraft Scheduling and Aircraft Maintenance to ensure Safety, Exceptional Customer Service and Efficient Operation of the TVA aircraft. Maintaining full understanding of technical flight procedures and federal regulations, with capacity to execute duties quickly under stressful or emergency situations.
Serves as pilot in command. Provides oversight of second pilot in command and of Aircraft Scheduling and Aircraft Maintenance activities as necessary to ensure Safety, Exceptional Customer Service and Efficient Operation of the TVA aircraft.
JOB DETAIL:
Plans and executes the flight in a safe and professional manner ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, TVA SPPs, and TVA Flight Operations Manual.
Approves flight schedules and routing; conducts refueling and servicing, performs maintenance and pre-flight checks and associated documentation.
Exhibits and demonstrates sound decision making and flight discipline to ensure air worthiness of aircraft and safety of passengers and crew.
Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the equipment operated, FARs governing the operation of equipment, manuals, policies, procedures, and local terrain.
Obtains and interprets weather observations and forecasts and makes decisions which affect the safety of the operation.
Check the airplane’s position, weather conditions and air traffic regularly during the flight and adjust flight paths as needed to ensure safety and promote effective resource management.
Commands the plane and is responsible for the safety of the aircraft, its passengers, crew, and cargo.
Responsible for mission critical storm recovery efforts during inclement weather with reduced visibility.
Maintains flight manifest confidentiality, supporting TVA’s mission of serving the people of the Tennessee Valley through Energy, the Environment and Economic Development.
Effectively presents information and responds appropriately to questions from executive leadership, aviation management, flight scheduling, passengers, and air traffic control as necessary.
Responsible for notifying passengers of turbulence or other operational factors impacting the operation of the flight.
Always conducts self professionally while on duty and observes the TVA Employee Handbook and responsibilities as outlined in the Flight Operations Manual and any related policies and procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Supervision and guidance are provided by the department manager and are generally limited to overall objectives, general guidelines, and work priorities. Incumbent plans and executes the work with minimal supervision in accordance with TVA’s Aircraft Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, and Airman’s Information Manual.
SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES:
The pilot must maintain currency and proficiency as to day and night takeoffs, landings, and instrument flight time in the aircraft to which he or she is assigned in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations.
Possesses piloting skills to accomplish all TVA aviation programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education with some college or equivalent experience required. Four-year college degree preferred.
Must hold a current Class II Medical Certificate. Class I Medical Certificate is preferred. Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with a multi-engine land rating. Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Instrument Instructor (CFII) certification preferred.
Must have total flight time of 3500 hours.PIC time: 2000 hours in multi-engine aircraft of which 500 hours must be in turbine-powered fixed wing aircraft. Previous Jet experience preferred. Must be able to travel upto 80 %of the time.

I have experience flying various types of aircraft, including commercial jets, helicopters, and small propeller planes.
As Aircraft Pilots, we coordinate with aircraft technicians to perform pre-and post-flight inspections of equipment, navigational system, and fuel following the airline’s checklist. We are also tasked with defrosting the wings during the winter and apply anti-frost agents to present the fuel and recruits from freezing. We operate the aircraft safely in accordance with the company’s standard operating procedures while documenting small malfunctions in the equipment. We also coordinate with flight agents to change the route in case of an emergency.
