About Airframe Technician

What does an Airframe Technician do?

As airframe technicians, we conduct comprehensive inspections of aircraft frames, electrical systems and mechanical components to determine faults and other functional problems. We determine the procedures and standards for testing aircraft functions to ensure standards are adhered to. We also perform repairs and replacement of equipment components. We are responsible for keeping meticulous records of all aircraft repair activities which are presented anything when requested. We are charged with adjusting, aligning and calibrating aircraft systems. We airframe technicians also perform, examination and inspection of engines and other aircraft components for breakages, cracks and any signs of leaks.

Core tasks:

  • installing engine after inspection assembling and installing aircraft accessories servicing and maintaining aircraft systems *repairing, replacing and rebuilding aircraft structures, components and parts
  • testing engine and systems such as sound system
  • keeping and safeguarding aircraft repair, inspection and maintenance records
