The Alabama State Port was dedicated in 1928 to provide top-notch shipping services to cargo. The port offers a wide range of facilities that include piers, wharves, warehouses, open cargo storage areas, loading and unloading areas, rail spurs, and holding tracks. The port operates every single day, accepting all forms of cargoes and ships while providing excellent unloading services for ships coming to the port. The Alabama State Port Authority is also equipped with a Port-Wide Mass Notification System to alert ASPA employees, tenants, visitors, and interested stakeholders in the event of an emergency within the Authority's seaport facilities. The system is designed to provide registrants alerts in the event of security incidents, hazardous chemical leaks, tornadoes, and other severe weather. The employment at the Port is in line with what is obtainable in other federal agencies but individuals are always encouraged to apply whenever the opportunity presents itself.
