After considering retirement from 40 years of nursing a friend contacted me who worked at Amedisys Home Health and told me she thought I would love it and could work part time. I have worked 5 years now and loved seeing patients in their homes, doing what I was taught in nursing school, “total patient care”. It was hard at times due to limitations in homes with no one else to assist with lifting or teaching about diet when I knew Pt didn’t have the money to buy quality foods or able to prepare properly. Then I can get our social worker to come in and more services can be provided. It truly is a team effort. It was a very rewarding experience.
