The mission of the American Alliance of Museums is to champion museums in cooperation with their members and allies and foster excellence. Members of the diverse museum community share something that the American Alliance of Museums provides with strong mutual support, aspirations of excellence, knowledge exchange, and professional networks, from art museums to science centers, arboretums to zoos. The Alliance has been a pioneer in promoting best practices and advocating for museums since 1906, as well as offering museum staff and volunteers a variety of opportunities. The Alliance's work supports over 35,000 individual museum staff and volunteers, institutions, and corporate partners. The network of committed members of the American Alliance of Museums brings their experience and ideas to improve our sector in several ways and build their own skills and connections. Joining a Professional Network makes it possible for individuals to be part of a particular group of people who care about related areas of shared interest.
