The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) represents academic nursing education on a national level. AACN promotes public support for professional nursing education, research, and practise by working to establish quality standards for nursing education, assisting schools in implementing those standards, influencing the nursing profession to improve health care, and influencing the nursing profession to improve health care. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) now has 825 member schools of nursing at public and private universities and senior colleges around the country. These universities have baccalaureate, graduate, and post-graduate programs. Though the organization represents all members of the academic unit, the dean or chief nurse administrator serves as the delegate to AACN.
