American Institutes for Research (AIR) is a nonprofit, social science research and technical assistance organization which is headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States. This organization was founded in 1946 by John C. Flanagan who is known for developing the Critical Incident Technique and Project Talent. The organization has its mission to generate and use rigorous evidence contributing to a better, more equitable world. AIR conducts social science and behavioral research and delivers technical assistance, both domestically and internationally, in the areas of education, health, and workforce productivity.
