American Postal Workers Union is a democratic organization, working for the dignity and respect of the job for the workers, as well as for decent pay, safe working conditions and excellent benefits. The organization was founded on July1, 1971,headquartered in Washington, DC and Mark Dimondstein is the president. It emerged from the collaboration of two unions, the United Federation of Postal Clerks and the National Postal Union. From the establishment, the organization has represented more than 200,000 USPS employees and retirees, and nearly 2,000 private-sector mail workers. APWU members are divided into four employee divisions i.e. clerk, maintenance, motor vehicle, and support services. They offer health plans,mortgage programs, voluntary benefits and other benefits to their employees.
