Since its inception on May 21, 1881, by Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been dedicated to serving those in need. It received the first congressional charter in 1900, and the federal government continues to entrust with providing services to members of the American armed forces and their families, as well as disaster relief in the United States and around the world. The Red Cross will mark 140 years of compassionate service in 2021. As in the past, the Red Cross relies on the generosity of the American people in the form of time, blood, and money to support the lifesaving services and programs. The American Red Cross offers many advantages such as comprehensive medical plans, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, life insurance and paid time off.
