There are sale quotas for different products that each agent has to meet monthly, In order to meet those quotas, you have to get in eight hours by 5:00 p.m. Call volume drops after 5:00 pm and so do sale opportunities. You can't spend a lot of time trying to make a sale because that blocks your availability for the customer who is ready to purchase. You have to manage your time and be skillful in quickly closing out a call with an unsure customer.

Worked there for a time. On your feet all day, very long hours. Little appreciating from lead teams. 10 min breaks. Never got out on time. Some like myself picked up the slack of many who did little if they got away with it

The Red Cross claims to “promote from within” but consistently overlooks qualified and loyal employees for external candidates.

I’ve worked at American Red Cross and we drove from town to town and collected donors it was long days and long nights

After a reduction of force at the Tampa Chapter I had a few months off and saw an opening in a chapter south of Tampa. The drive was 40 miles south one way. The CEO and the Head of the Board were two women I knew I could learn from. I spent three years in Bradenton and truly enjoyed the community, volunteers and staff.

I became a Disaster Specialist after serving as a volunteer for a period of years. This was an excellent opportunity to assist people who had be damaged their environment, and to train those who had potential risks on how to survive. I worked in disaster sites throughout the Southeast US and advanced to a position of ARC representator in the combined government groups that responded to the disasters throughout this portion of the US. I was personally responsible for the training and damage responses to the southern half of the Pinellas County which had a population of over 400,000 citizens.

Nice company to work been there for 27 years. The people their are nice to work with and so the donors.

I got a total charge Kim for the teams that are actually helping people in our community. It is a great organization. Sometimes I think they do too many things at once but overall, it has been a real pleasure working here.

I loved working for the American Redcross. We were a family and we believed in the importance of the work that we did.

Not worth my time to say what RC hides from the public, knowingly. They help different people in different ways. Some they bend their own rules some they don’t. Far from equality. What’s good for 1 should be good for all. Some pick & chose specifically who they’ll go an extra mile for. Also very judge-mental without even know someone. They go against there own creed.

Loved working with a company that helped people. Red Cross is a wonderful company providing disaster assistance, CPR,First Aid and Babysitting classes, casework and financial aid for our military service members in cases of emergency leave. Wonderful people helping those in need. Spent about 3 years in various duties, best job ever!

My primary duty every morning (not in New York, but on a US Army base in Darmstadt, Germany) was to receive and transmit emergency messages. Usually this involved the injury or death of a soldier and my job was to pass the message, verbatim, to a first sergeant for the soldier to get leave for the family emergency. Sometimes this was a bit harrowing. The rest of my duties involved setting up CPR classes (and the like). Which was fulfilling. It would have been better if I had a supervisor who told me more information or looked AT me rather than at a nearby wall when talking to me. It was very ... uncomfortable. (No, it wasn't a vision impairment or other handicap on her part.)

I learned so much from Mrs. Shirley and she was available even when I needed to ask a question at unexpected times. I enjoy working as an intern and when I have the opportunity I volunteer.

I began with the American Red Cross when I was 14 years old. I learned so much from so many as everyone was always willing to teach me what I needed to learn. I not only matured as a person, but also professionally as time went on.

I worked side by side with the CEO and the telericrutment director planning and booking blood drives. I also did payroll for 200+ employees. Answered customer complaints.

I worked there a couple years they consumed every second no time for anything. Worked all over the place at all hours. It was draining.

Salary was not the best but I always have fun with my co-workers and with my Manager, she was very understanding and Nice

I love going place to place. Traveling with a group is fun. I took the class in Roanoke Virginia and had pool and eating out was fun.

Volunteer swimming instructor, lifeguarding/lifesaving instructor, CPR instructor, and supervisor for first aid stations. Donated whole blood and pheresis blood.

This company does NOT care where you live. They will send you to a site 100 miles from your home and send someone who lives closer to that area to your home city.

After much In depth research I discovered I was significantly under paid for the Supervisor role. There was always training classes, which I learned a lot however one particular guy had no patience with teaching others. He should've been in another role because being an instructor wasn't his strong point, he had a very short fuse and came off as abrasive most of the time. Management was friends with one particular supervisor and this guy went & came as he pleased !!! Ex. He would leave during shift and go out to the club scene and return a hour before schedule time to leave. Nothing was ever done because he was buddies with one of the Managers. There was a lot of FAVORITISM !!! & not enough SUPPORT from the Director, Managers & Supervisors, everyone want the TITLE & Salary but not what it entails!!!!

Good mission, but hours are long and company will push you to the breaking point. Days off are often denied and will call you on your days off.

Great money, opportunities, benefits, and socialness. Lots of education. Schedule was demanding and tiring, but very rewarding.

This was my first job in healthcare after college. I loved traveling all over southern Virginia and meeting new people. We handled our business and usually had fun in the process. I had more money than I had time! There were only a few places that I didn't like working and would avoid at all cost. I had a baby almost two years into working there, those hours with a newborn were impossible. I loved it, and I miss it.

I learned so much at the American Red Cross. With every new job there is something to learn. It was always a new adventure at this job.

Hours are VERY long it’s never an 8 hour work day . And you’re never in the same place you travel all over the place every day !

Excellent moment at American Red Cross. They’re so pro and knowledgeable in first aid and relief. I developed and created a database for all of the volunteers that are stationed in this location. I also am registered as instructor Trainer for safety programs as well as disaster Caseworker.

Worked with a bunch of great people, all departments worked together as a TEAM. Family oriented company that put employee first.

The best feeling to come to work and provide quality and meaningful service to the many service members of our armed forces. The feeling is so warm and heart-felt. If I had a chance to do it again. I would not hesitate to sit in that chair.

I worked at red cross for almost 3 years. I loved the people I worked with, and the job itself was okay, despite the fact that they wanted you to work miracles and see 100 people day with 2 staff members, but the pay was dreadful, there were more issues with getting paid correctly than not. The schedule was 100% unpredictable. When I was there, there was NO advancement opportunities for someone who wasn't an RN or LPN. When I had the opportunity to advance, I was denied for the fact that I was a single parent. Management and the Union did nothing to protect or help their employees. When I resigned I did not even get a response from management.

I became employed by the ARC after 20 years of wanting to work there. I quickly rose through the ranks and obtained my objective as a shift supervisor. There is a tremendous amount of responsibility as well as federal regulations but I welcomed the challenge. The pay and benefits were above average for the area and I enjoyed my work. However there was alot of overtime and my life/work balance was anything but balanced! Consequently, it became necessary to find more suitable employment but I will never forgot my time there!

One of my best jobs!! At the begining, it was not friendly, but as they got to know me, they liked me and we had a lot of fun, I miss them all.

I worked their 6years. They are concerned with production, getting platletts out. When my wife was sick, I had to take FMLA for awhile she was very sick and I was in and out. They fired me for lack of attendance even though I had a good reason. My wife died in 2012.

Worked in the Boston branch for 16 yrs. Gained alot of experience and knowledge. Love interacting with donor in conversations and exchanging stories. Putting donor at ease. Salary was ok . Management was good.

When donating blood I enquired about the company applied and was hired with no experience. Red Cross trained me, and I absolutely love the job, experience and positive management and teams I worked with

The RedCross is a horrible company to work for. They don’t respect their ethnic employees at all and they don’t stand by their mission statement in any way, shape, form or fashion. It may have once been a great company to work for but now things are definitely not the same.

Yes, the "mission statement" is exemplary. Execution depends on who/where you work in this highly organized, management-centric place. Quiet meetings. Efforts toward customer-service in this particular location are not as successful as in other regions.
