The Appalachian Mountains Club is committed to fostering protection, enjoyment and learning about outdoor activities. They always envision a world where natural resources are healthy, loved and always protected. They also believe that the outdoors occupies a vital place in everyone's life. In 1876, Edward Pickering and 33 outdoor enthusiasts founded the Appalachian Mountains Club in Boston. Soon after its creation, AMC worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the New England Wildflower Association to restore the endangered Robbins Cinquefoil in the White Mountain National Forest. As a financial agent, it also joined the Highland Coalition, an advocacy organization dedicated to land conservation in the highlands of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, and began to map 'important treasures' in the four-state highlands. The Appalachian Mountain Club further provides diverse employee benefits such as life and disability insurance, retirement plans, vision insurance, dental insurance, paid holidays, 401(K) plans, among others.
