Archdiocese of Detroit is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese administrative body that oversees all Roman Catholic parishes, schools, and communities in southeast Michigan, including Lapeer, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, and Wayne counties. The Detroit Archdiocese is the seat of the Ecclesiastical Province of Detroit, which incorporates the six bishoprics of Michigan. It was established in 1833 by Pope Gregory XVI. It is located in Detroit, Michigan, the United States. The first bishop appointed for the archdiocese was Frederic Rese. It is currently under the leadership of Pope Francis. Allen Henry Vigneron is the Archbishop. This archdiocese has more than 224 parishes and about 1,159,688 Roman Catholic communities attending the Archdiocese of Detroit.
