The Guard’s mission is to serve the country, responding to battle fires or helping communities deal with floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms or further emergency situations. I enjoyed working there until June of 1992 when they discharged me due to a service connected injury which was a low back and neck injury due to an auto accident in April of 1989 while I was on my way to drill I couldn't take the army physical fitness test because of my injuries. That is why I got discharged.

It was very fun and had difficult times which were hard for me but I made it through them with no problems my team leader was very helpful also my sergeant was to so were the members of my platoon. This was done one weekend a month and two weeks in the Summer for nine and a half years then I was discharged because I couldn't take the army physical fitness test due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on my way to drill in April of 1989 I was discharged in June of 1992 year and a half later I filed for compensation and got it have been receiving it since then plus on social security disability since September of 2003

I was a Cav. Scout, Supply Armor, NBC NCO and numerous other MOS's. I have been in Fort Knox Kentucky, Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania, Fort Picket Virginia, Fort Drum New York, Fort Lewis Washington state.

Pros and Cons
I liked my jobs, I felt satisfied that I was doing something for U.S.A.
I don't like how everyone is wearing a beret. Beret is something you earn.

Looked forward to every weekend drill.Had a lot of respect for our officers and full time NCO's.The time spent working,training and sharing job related duties were without question very professional.Quite a learning experience.We had fun sharing our fond memories in prior active service.

Chow was good,duty assignments fair,pride in all.
Traveling on drills, extended week ends, scheduling.

I was a Chief Cook, who had gotten shot at patrolling the streets in 1992 for the LA Riots. I was in charge of 6 cooks serving up to 600-800 troops in one day for weekend drills.

Pros and Cons
Great work environment and good leadership
Wouldn't work with me at time of reenlistment

I really enjoyed my time there. everything is being top-notch, and I feel like I'm making a difference in my community. The camaraderie and sense of purpose are unmatched. Highly recommend! 🔥
