About Art Therapist

What does an Art Therapist do?

As Art Therapists, we consult with patients to discuss their medical history and identify problems or conditions they wish to overcome. We also conduct art therapy sessions with them using various types of visual art, including drawing, sculpting, painting, ceramics, and clay modeling, as well as leading group or family art therapy sessions. We develop suitable art therapy programs for patients based on their needs, objectives, and preferred forms of artistic expression. We also collaborate with other healthcare practitioners to develop or integrate personalized treatment plans.

Core tasks:

  • discuss with patients to evaluate the meaning and emotions behind the artworks
  • conduct art therapy sessions with patients
  • teach patients coping skills and strategies to enable them to deal with traumatic experiences
