Company Description

The Oregon Department of Justice under the umbrella of the state government serves the safe and healthy communities of Oregon by providing essential justice services to the people. It is headed by Attorney General Ellen F. Rosenblum, and the DOJ also serves as the state’s law firm. Headquartered in Salem, Oregon, the agency employs around 1300 individuals throughout the state and has a two-year budget of $550 million. Also, the agency has 13 child support and 10 legal offices located across the state. Aside from representing the state government, the DOJ protects all Oregonians, especially the segments of society that are most vulnerable like seniors and children. The DOJ as well as its nine sub-divisions perform various functions such as consumer protection, crime victim compensation, child support, charitable activities, and district attorney assistance. Job Description

  • These terms, conditions, and notices (the “Terms”) govern Job Seeker, visitor, and certain Customer(s), access to and use of Governmentjobs.com, Inc.   • Certain terms, such as Section 7 or restrictions on job postings, will only apply to you if you are a Customer of Company. A Customer is defined an organization, government, state or provincial government, city, county, government agency, municipality, federal government, K-12, special district, law enforcement, college, university, academy, or institute of technology, of which is located in the United States and utilizes Company Services to post job opportunities, search for, recruit, evaluate and select Job Seekers. A Job Seeker is a natural person who accesses, uses, or creates an account on a Company controlled Service to search for and apply to jobs advertised by Customers.
  • Providing effective, independent and high quality legal services to all entities of state government;
  • Protecting and supporting families and children through child advocacy and child support services;
  • Protecting consumers -- particularly our most vulnerable citizens -- from fraudulent schemes and other unlawful trade practices;
  • Supporting our state's prosecutors and law enforcement efforts;
  • Protecting and compensating victims of crime;
  • If you will be using the Services on behalf of a Customer, you agree to these Terms on behalf of that organization and you represent that you have the authority to do so. In such case, “you” and “your” will refer to that organization. Where these Terms conflict with either pre-existing additional terms of which were mutually and explicitly agreed to between Company and you (collectively referred to as the “Parties”), or where the Parties explicitly agreed otherwise, those additional terms shall control to the extent of the conflict.

  • Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking to an Assistant Attorney General position in the Child Advocacy Section of the Civil Enforcement Division. This Medford-based position will be responsible for providing advice and litigation services to the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Program in juvenile dependency cases involving abused, neglected or dependent children. In cases involving children who cannot remain with or be returned to their parents, section attorneys assist in implementing and finalizing other permanency plans for children including litigating termination of parental rights trials to legally free children for adoption. Attorneys must balance providing legal advice with frequent court appearances, from short hearings to multi-day complex trials.This is a litigation-focused position and will require significant time in the court. This is position is represented by the Oregon Association of Justice Attorneys union. A comprehensive benefits package will be included.Questions regarding this position may be directed to Deputy Chief Counsel Joanne Southey at (971) 673-1880.Beginning February 1, 2019, OAJA-represented employees who are Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS; until that date, PERS contributions are state funded. You will immediately notify Company if you become aware of any loss or theft of your password or any unauthorized use of your user name and password.
