Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum of two (2) years experience working in a football program as an assistant coach.

Obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the first 60 days of employment.

Pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test for off-campus recruiting within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter.

Experience and knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Big Sky Conference, and other established bodies that govern intercollegiate athletics and the University.

Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree.

Three (3) years of collegiate football experience working as a coach.

Collegiate football experience at the Division I level.

Collegiate football experience in the Big Sky Conference.

Collegiate recruiting experience at the NCAA Division I level.

No previous history of NCAA violations.
Collegiate playing experience.

Other Skills and Abilities Work Schedule Type Regular Work Schedule

Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Requires overnight travel at least 25 nights out of the year on team and recruiting trips.

Assist in the administration, planning and organization of appropriate preseason, in-season, and post-season programs, including practice planning and scheduling. Meet with head coach and other staff members daily to plan practices, competition, and other team matters. Communicate problems, issues and program improvement ideas to the Head Football Coach. Provide advanced instruction to student-athletes in applicable position group and unit with a priority on defense.

Identify and recruit qualified student athletes within the guidelines of all NCAA, Big Sky Conference and EWU rules & regulations. Keep accurate records regarding all student-athlete communications and expectations.

Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and Big Sky Conference rules as they apply to coaching teams and student-athletes in-season and out. Work with Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance to keep current records of all student-athlete academic progress on a quarterly basis in line with NCAA guidelines.
