As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including an Associate Director, Cost Optimization Engineeringin our Supply Chain Services Team within the Interior Systems Supply Chain function located in Winston-Salem, NCJOB SUMMARYThe Associate Director, Cost Optimization Engineering will be responsible for partnering with the Site Strategic Souring and Engineering Teams to identify and deliver cost reduction projects with a strong focus on value engineering. This will entail working all three streams of cost management; sourcing, negotiation and design. Further, the role requires the identification of project opportunities through cross-functional engagement. The role leads efforts to optimize cost, minimizing risk, increasing cash, and eliminating waste at the program and commodity level. A proven ability to integrate and function in multiple cross-functional teams is required. Success in the role requires supply chain knowledge across multiple regions and commodities and an in depth knowledge of executing engineering changes in the Aerospace environment. This position will work with external suppliers, and will function within program teams consisting of program management, design engineers, manufacturing, sales, and quality personnel. The Cost Optimization Team fosters partnerships to leverage innovation and operates as commodity subject matter expert at the program level. The role works closely with the New Product Development Supply Chain Managers to coordinate long term supply base options with a strong focus on driving Low Cost Country Sourcing.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESWork with design engineers, sales, marketing, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing to identify, plan and implement cost reduction projects.Re-source, Re-negotiate, Re-DesignChallenge existing design concepts and technology choices to ensure product is designed to optimize function, quality and cost.Ensure that the implementation of projects results in zero disruption to the business via thorough risk planning/management and effective stakeholder engagement.Drives year over year Cost Reductions on multiple commodities and Interior Systems Programs.Develops joint strategies with suppliers to improve total cost of ownership.Monitors new products available on the market and analyzes new sources of supply to recommend suppliers, satisfy project requirements, and reduce costs.Understands new and emerging technologies in the commodity supply base. Tracks and socializes alternative technologies and associated implications on cost, quality and risk.Works with internal stakeholder budgets and performs spend analysis to develop annual sourcing plans that meet defined savings targets and leverage sourcing tools and techniques to identify sourcing levers and create a competitive cost advantage.Proactively monitors project implementations for stability with respect to supplier performance, develops target KPIs, and ensures constant communication with cross-functional team (engineering, manufacturing, and quality).Performs other related duties as required.Willingness and a bility to travel up to ~25% domestically and internationally.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.Minimum of 7 years of Manufacturing experience, Aerospace preferred.Strong financial and analytical skills and ability to furnish a business case.Self-starter with proven track record of implementing/executing complex cost reduction projects.Successful pricing and contracts negotiations experience is required.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) applications.Experience in delivering value engineering projects.Understands Aerospace Certification impacts of design changes and experience in navigating through the engineering change process.Familiar with Aerospace supplier quality, engineering, manufacturing and material control requirements.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of 10 years of Manufacturing experience, Aerospace preferred.Experience operating in a matrix organization.Experience running multiple, large complex cross functional projects * Experience working with low cost country suppliers.Experience in roles involving change management - continuous improvement programs, including supplier improvement programs and cost reduction programs.Experience selling ideas internally with a history of successful implementation.Experience working with eBOM/mBOM details; Ability to read engineering drawings.Familiarity with emerging ternational sourcing experience and familiarity with Import/Export/ITAR licensing requirements.MRP user experience.Six Sigma, Kaizen or Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.EOE/Minorities/Females/Veterans/Disabled.
