Position Summary

Department Description:
AlpInvest Partners is one of the largest and well-established private equity investors globally, with nearly $75 billion committed to investments since inception. AlpInvest is wholly owned by The Carlyle Group and serves as the private equity multi-manager adviser within the Carlyle Investment Solutions business segment.

AlpInvest's activities cover a broad range of private equity, including Primary Fund commitments, Secondary Investments and Co-Investments. The firm's investments span the full spectrum of private equity: buyouts, venture, growth capital, energy, mezzanine, and distressed. AlpInvest offers customized private equity solutions to single clients through separately managed accounts as well as commingled funds. AlpInvest has a large and diverse base of about 400 investors globally, including sovereign wealth funds, public and private pension funds, insurance companies, and family offices.

Position Summary:
This individual will function as the Controller for AlpInvest regulated product(s). This person will manage day-to-day operations, financial reporting, and vendor management, among other responsibilities necessary to ensure smooth operations and reporting for regulated products.

This person will report to the Chief Financial Officer ("CFO") of AlpInvest. They will be collaborating across multiple teams within AlpInvest, but also with colleagues in Global Credit that focus on regulated products.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:
The AVP will be mainly responsible for
Key job functions include:
  • Fund Operations:
    • Partner with front office teams in the execution of activities including;
    • Ongoing portfolio management and valuation support
    • Capital activity
    • Investor reporting and requests
    • Working with internal/external tax teams to implement tax structures and complete year end compliance activities
  • RIC Reporting
    • Oversee and manage financial reporting processes performed by TPA
    • Interact with internal committee on subject's pertaining to Valuation, financial statements, SEC filings, Board Meetings and Earnings Prep/Call
  • Vendor Management:
    • Responsible for the development of an effective oversight model, ensuring risk based reviews of:
      • Fund accounting & period end close process
      • Financial reporting
      • Investor servicing
    • Track and enforce SLAs
  • Strategic Finance:
    • Assist leadership in strategic finance activities including,
      • Treasury activities
      • Public financing
      • Stock repurchases


Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with prior finance experience, strong academic credentials, and an interest in our core sectors. Candidates must enjoy working in teams, possess strong quantitative and analytical skills, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree with strong performance from a top undergraduate institution
  • CPA required
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Big 4 Accounting firm background is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of investment funds and various investment products
  • Strong knowledge of SEC reporting
Position Specific Technical Requirements:
  • Knowledge of advanced excel
  • Strong time management and prioritization
