Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Baltimore Orioles is an American Baltimore Orioles is an American baseball team competing in the Major League Baseball (MLB) tournament as a member of the East Division of the American League (AL). The franchise spent its first year as a major league baseball club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by the name of Milwaukee Brewers as one of the eight charter teams in 1901, before shifting on to St. Louis, Missouri renaming to St. Louis Brown in 1902. In November 1953, the franchise was purchased by civic activist and attorney Clarence Miles and Mayor Thomas D’Alesandro. The team is currently owned by trial lawyer Peter Angelos. The franchise experienced its greatest period of success from 1966 to 1983 making six appearances in the World Series and winning three of those in 1966, 1970, and 1983.
