Barnes-Jewish Hospital is the supreme hospital in the U.S. state of Missouri which was established in 1902 by the leaders of the St. Louis Jewish community located in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis. It is the teaching hospital for the grown-ups for the Washington University School of Medicine and a main constituent of the Washington University Medical Center. In 2018, it was the leading private employer in Greater St. Louis which employs 10,125 people, including 1,723 attending physicians. The hospital was established by the merger of two hospitals, Barner Hospital and The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis to take care of the sick and disabled. It was named as America’s leading hospitals many times by the U.S. News and World Report’s Honor Roll.
