As Basketball Referees, we are responsible for enforcing and explaining rules, assessing penalties, and initiating and ending games. We inspect sports equipment prior to the start of the game and ensure the rules are being followed by all players. We explain game rules to each player as needed and ensure understanding of rules by the participants. Making calls regarding violations of rules and imposing penalties is one of our main responsibilities. We stop games as needed to review player’s performance and keep track of the time throughout the event. Working as Basketball Referees, we also ensure compliance of the equipment with safety standards.
