The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a British national broadcaster. It is located at Broadcasting House, Westminster, London. The overall number of BBC employees is 35,402 including part-time, versatile and contract staff. It's the oldest public broadcaster in the world. The BBC is formed in compliance with the Royal Charter and functions within the scope of its Agreement with the Secretary of State for Internet, Entertainment, Media and Sport. It is also the biggest broadcaster in the country with more than 22,000 workers, of which more than 16,000 are in the government sector. The BBC World Service, which streams in 28 languages and offers extensive TV, radio and internet content in Arabic and Persian, has been funded since 1 April 2014. Its work is primarily subsidized by an annual license fee for broadcasting, which is paid to all British households, businesses and associations using some form of equipment to access or monitor live television transmissions and iPlayer catch-ups.
