About Bereavement Coordinator

What does a Bereavement Coordinator do?

As Bereavement Coordinators, we are responsible for assessing needs, offering counselling and explaining our assistance to the bereaved. We organize, schedule support groups and develop materials for bereavement. We document bereavement services offered to clients as well as train new members of staff. We are tasked with upholding the mission, values and vision of agencies we work for. We align our programs with the agency’s set goals and objectives. We ensure for sustainability of our programs through community partnership strategies. We recruit and manage volunteers and facilitators to work in our agencies. We manage and timely updates our bereavement curriculum.

Core tasks:

  • completing the competencies for all the facilitators and volunteers
  • planning and providing oversight for all the support accorded to the bereaved
  • ensuring compliance with all the policies and procedures of offering support to the bereaved
  • developing an annual grief support calendar
