I enjoyed my time at Best Buy and was able to learn quite a bit of information about the procedures, etc of Retail Market.
Pros and Cons
They took good care of the employees, especially during the Holidays leading up to Christmas.
Extended hours and it took awhile for shoppers to realize it and start coming in..

I started as a counter tech, moved to being a field DA, then took a supervisory role for 3 years. The experience was good, in the way that it gave me world view experience.
Pros and Cons
Getting paid
NO advancement, good old boy system, out of date practices

Working at Best Buy was one of the highlights of my professional life. I worked for the company on three separate occasions between 2003-2019, of which I spent a total of 15 years with the company. I learned a lot while working there. It taught me how to be a team player, how to manage a business and how I contribute, how to coach and develop new team members and up and coming employees, time management, and many other skills. The biggest take away I have from working at Best Buy was the fact that being there, you feel like part of a family. I learned a lot during my time, and also made several friends that became family to me. The culture you cultivate is up to you, and the culture in Best Buy is second to none.
Pros and Cons
Professional growth. Employee discount is fantastic. Benefits are very good.
Some leaders do not want to develop. Also, some leaders will work you to the bone.

The store drove out all of the best managers and coworkers, and now you're left with a team that doesn't really care about your well-being. if your numbers aren't stellar, you aren't really acknowledged at all by any of the managers. They don't help you or encourage you at all. If you don't have a 100% asking rate, you're threatened to be written up, to the point where they hover and make you uncomfortable. Full time associates steal sales for their own convenience as well.
Pros and Cons
Decent pay
Everything Else

Was laid off during Covid. Over the last few years Best Buy has gotten too âwokeâ and they just push and push you to sell anything and everything to the customer rather than sell them what they need show them what they could have and be honest to the customer to earn repeat customers
Pros and Cons
Good discount
Low pay over worked and under appreciated

Working for Best Buy is truly all about selling credit cards & memberships to your customers. The expectations of the employees are high and unreasonable. It is difficult to be promoted even if you're an expert in your field. The managers promote people based on their interviews, answers, and persona instead of their knowledge and expertise.
Pros and Cons
company discount
high pressure to perform

Cool store to shop at but stressful and non beneficial to work for. I would recommend working here to someone not looking for a career maybe still in college. You cannot support a family on what they pay you.
Pros and Cons
Store Discount
Low pay and they will not let you move up if you're good at what you already do

It was mostly a good time working at Best Buy. The managers showed care for their employees sometimes over the bottom line. The work was always interesting. New issues were brought in every day and it kept the job from becoming too repetitive.
The company culture was very strong with opening and closing round table type meetings. Sometimes it could feel a bit like the cult of Best Buy.
Pros and Cons
Friendly like minded coworkers. Strong company culture
Strong company culture

I started off in the Computer department and transferred to Media, then Merchandising, before being placed in Product Fulfillment. A stressful place to work during the holidays with rude customers, but you do your job and the day goes by fast. At the location I worked at, it was tough to move up in the company since there is only one location. If you are in an area with multiple stores, I hear it's easier to advance. At the location I worked, we had a problem with micromanaging and a lack of communication between leaders. I would be told to work on one task, have another leader approach me with something else to do, then get yelled at by the previous manager for not working on what they wanted me to do. It's a bit of a balancing act, but it is doable. Of course, that's just my experience at my location. It may be different at other stores.
Pros and Cons
Benefits, co-workers, some managers
Micromanaging, lack of communication, pay, favoritism.

Best Buy was best to me when I was a H.s junior working but realized as more time went on that it is not a career. You have to fight constantly for a raise which eventually turns into nickels and pennies and you are supposed to be happy and content with that.
I did love being around latest and greatest technology but if you are looking for a good paying career opportunity, stay away.
Pros and Cons
potential bonuses, get to be around latest technology, laid back management
poor pay, little growth opportunity, expensive benefits

Worked here for nearly 6 years and watched as the changes in corporate structure slowly trickled down to the store level. This company used to say its way of competing against Amazon was by having world-class customer and employee experience. Now Best Buy cares about neither, and hopes to convince you otherwise with good PR
Pros and Cons
Able to develop skills across a variety of business segments
Low Pay, No Support from upper Management, Corporate likes to flaunt diversity, but doesn't care

As retail goes, this is one of the better places. The only downside was there seemed to be an emphasis on hiring part-time workers. Less benefits and pay and little chance for advancement. Geek Squad seemed like the best job there.
Pros and Cons
Discounts and priority on available open-box purchases were perks.
Hectic at times and everyone does the clean-up and stocking chores.

Best Buy is one of the most supportive employers in the working world today! The culture is unlike anything I have ever experienced in my career. If you want to learn, stretch, and grow with a company that treats every employee as a human instead of a number then this is the place to be. I loved my time at Best Buy!
Pros and Cons
Culture, people, leadership, development, growth, supportive
Promotion can be difficult, but not impossible if you have passion!

Pineville, NC - March 11, 2021
It was a great at experience in the very beginning but has suffered the damage of the internet buying craze. It hangs on by its services and it isn't flexible on hours for part timers. You must do three shifts every weekend to maintain part time status.
Pros and Cons
There are no longer any amenities for working here
Parking was never great. Duties are varied and tedious with little acknowledgement for part timers.
