Blue Engine is a New York based non-profit that works with schools to maximize human capacity. It brings together teams of teachers employed in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods to reimagine the classroom environment for all pupils, culminating in significant increases in academic performance and diverse classes of apprentice teachers preparing for success in the classroom. By changing the teacher-to-student ratio from 1:30 to 1:6 in gateway skills subjects, Blue Engine's team teaching paradigm re-architects the conventional classroom. In one classroom, this model integrates teams of three apprentice educators, resulting in significant improvements in student performance and a pool of effective, culturally sensitive teachers. It offers career opportunities and benefits.
