In the early 1990s, I was a full-time Child & Family Services mental health professional with Umatilla County Mental Health. The Social Sciences Department Chair took a chance and gave me my first opportunity to teach. Lectures were presented via white board or overhead projector. I benefitted from lots of staff support and enjoyed rural students who were motivated to learn. The Blue Mountain Community College Campus is fairly spread out with lots of amenities that available to staff, e.g., an Olympic-size swimming pool. The Umatilla County area boasts four (4) seasons. The Blue Mountains are simply breathing. Pendleton is probably best known for its Roundup during which the population of Pendleton triples. Pendleton is a very interesting town with many tourist attractions, e.g., underground shops owned by Chinese immigrants over 100 years ago. I recommend Blue Mountain Community College to any interested students and aspiring college instructors.

Pros and Cons
Olympic-size swimming pool. Four distinct seasons. Ample parking. An hour from Tri-Cities, WA.
When I taught at Blue Mountain Community College they offered no health insurance.
