A bioengineer, a biophysicist, and a biochemist came together in 2009 with an ambitious concept that they could transform the future by biotechnological progress. In March 2017, the Boltspun Necktie, made entirely of Microsilk TM, was the first to introduce bioengineered spider silk to the market. It collaborated with Best Made Co. a few months later to introduce the MicrosilkTM Cap of Bravery, which combined MicrosilkTM and luxury American Rambouillet fur. It partnered with Portland-based brand Chester Wallace in September 2018 to launch its first commercially available product, the Bolt Projects MyloTM Driver Pack, made from MyloTM. It has also provided career opportunities along with benefits like paid leaves, insurance, and retirement plans.
