About Box Office Manager

What does a Box Office Manager do?

As box office managers, we work in the entertainment/event management business, where we oversee all ticketing related activities for events. We manage ticket sales operations, supervise ticket sellers and assistants, and provide customer service. We also provide administrative support and accounting services related to ticketing. We usually report to the ticketing manager or the sales and marketing manager of the organization.

Core tasks:

  • managing ticketing staff (hiring, training, scheduling, daily operations)
  • assisting in ticket pricing
  • processing ticket orders, refunds, exchanges, etc.
  • ensuring accurate accounting of cash and credit card sales
  • reporting on event attendances, ticket sales, no-shows, walk-ins, etc.
  • handling customer complaints, providing general customer service
