Established in 1910 in Irving, Texas, Boy Scout of America — a values-based youth development organization — offers programs for young people to build character. BSA was born with a mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The organization consists of nearly 2.2 million youth members from 5 and 21 age and around 800,000 volunteers in local councils throughout the U.S. and its territories. Since its inception, over 130 million young women and men have participated in the BSA’s youth programs, and 35 million+ adult volunteers have helped carry out its mission. BSA emphasizes on crafting a secure environment for its youth members. To maintain such an environment, it developed various procedural and leadership selection policies and offers leaders and parents with resources for the Scouts BSA, Cub Scout, and Venturing programs.
