About Broadcast Systems Engineer

What does a Broadcast Systems Engineer do?

We, broadcast systems engineers, provide engineering and operational support towards station software and hardware broadcast systems. We are tasked with ensuring smooth and effective news coverage and production activities of the media station. We are responsible for compiling broadcast programmes and performing non-linear editing. We collaborate with production specialists, technical and editorial teams to carry out required system upgrades. We are responsible for diagnosing faults and resolving issues on non-linear station and broadcast systems for the field. We also, undertake configuration of the systems and servers to support operations of the station facilities such as sound, transmission and cameras. We are also expected to collect logs and analyze then pass them to appropriate persons for action.

  • detecting faults in equipment and systems
  • compiling broadcast programmes
  • conducting non-linear editing
  • performing system and server configuration
  • conducting system upgrades
  • communicating equipment performance issues to manufactures
