Brown & Root Industrial Services provides diverse industrial services for chemical/petrochemical, refining and other plant sites and facilities, including engineering, construction, maintenance, turnover and professional (painting, scaffolding, thermal insulation) services. Brown and Root Industrial Services is headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is composed of traditional Brown and Root maintenance organizations and has engineering, construction, turnover and professional service capabilities. The history of Brown & Root Industrial Services can be traced back to 1919, when brothers George and Herman Brown collaborated with Herman's brother-in-law Dan Root to create a company. Their first major job was road construction, including a contract to rebuild four bridges in central Texas. Since 1919, Brown & Root has been engineering and designing, constructing, maintaining and repairing plants to meet global energy needs and lifestyles. Brown & Root Industrial Services treats its employees with respect and integrity, and provides them with an environment for learning, personal growth and professional development.
