Every year, the BEP produces billions of Federal Reserve Notes for distribution to the Federal Reserve System. Its facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas, manufacture these notes. It is a political organization. The BEP creates a number of security records, including portions of US passports, Homeland Security papers, military identity cards, and Immigration and Naturalization Certificates, in addition to US currency. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing makes US money notes, acts as the country's central bank, and guarantees that ample quantities of currency and coin are in circulation.
