As one of UMB’s leading lines of business, the Business Banking Team Lead is responsible for helping grow the Business Banking loan portfolio with companies generating revenues from $1mm-$10mm. The team is made up of Business Banking Relationship Officers, Treasury Management Officers, Underwriters, Client Managers, and Analysts. This team manages Commercial and Industrial relationship throughout its life – developing meaningful connections with management of the companies they serve. Always mindful of the changes in the company, its industry, etc., over time that might create a change in their financial service needs.
As the Business Banking Team Lead, you will lead a team of professional sales and product specialists which collectively shape Commercial & Industrial solutions that will entice prospective companies to award new business to UMB. From a sales and servicing perspective, you will assist in establishing sales goals, establish service policies and standards that will increase client satisfaction and retention. Because this is a leadership role, you will have high visibility in the company and community, assist in setting the sales strategy for the region, and play a critical role developing new business. Engaging and building relationships with your team, internal stake holders, business owners, CFO’s, CEO’s, Controllers, and working with existing clients, you have the ability to help clients achieve their financial dreams, stream line business processes and help them better understand their working cash flow needs.

How you’ll spend your time:
You will focus on the team and individual goals to better deliver a unified business approach and develop your associates.
You will utilize your networking abilities in the community by participating in community and professional activities in order to enhance UMB’s image and brand to build new business.
You will provide strategic direction and budget management, recruitment of new team members, and items related to profit & loss to ensure profitability.
You will play a critical role in negotiating credit arrangements with team members to help prepare credit memorandum and supporting documentation to gain approvals from loan committee.
You will oversee the Business Banking Portfolio monitoring through your team members to ensure the loans are performing to standard.

If you have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of up to 7 years in a proven Business Banking sales role.
If you have strong understanding of commercial lending practices, loan documentation, loan servicing, credit knowledge, and credit underwriting.
If you have strong knowledge in strategic sales planning to define target markets, strategic sales approaches, and providing solutions.
Bonus points, if you have strategic industry sales knowledge, and marketing abilities to those industries.

Compensation Range:
Minimum: $105,000.00 - Mid Point: $149,940.00

As business banking relationship managers, we are account managers with a business banking portfolio. We usually work for financial organizations offering corporate banking services. Our job is to create and maintain good business relationships and client satisfaction. Acting as a point of contact between the client and the organization, we make sure that clients’ expectations are understood and met. We perform daily administrative tasks, monitor renewals, assist with requests, and more. Apart from the traditional sales/account management skill set, a financial background is usually required in this role.
