ABOUT BRAND EXPERIENCE The Brand Experience team at Macy’s is passionate about finding new ways for the Macy’s brand to show up to the consumer, our vendors, and our colleagues. We live to challenge the status quo, change minds, and deliver growth as a result. This new team is reimagining the customer experience in Macy’s stores to further engage our existing customers and acquire entirely new ones. Playing off Macy’s strengths, while evolving approaches that have become outdated, the team will develop and manifest a perspective on the future of department store retailing that results in growth and new revenue streams for the company. Through this real-world exercise, the Brand Experience team will also derive and model new ways of working that inform how the broader company works. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking to hire someone who can make a delicious latte, serve up a fancy cocktail and encourage our customers to try our assortment of tasty bites Our ideal candidate is someone who has a love of coffee and spirits. This person is enthusiastic about sharing their passion and has an upbeat, professional and customer service driven personality. The Cafe Team Member primary responsibility is to provide service in a restaurant environment by preparing and serving food, coffee and alcoholic beverages according to company, Health Department, and State and Federal regulations. The Cafe Team Member sell and creates beverages following health and safety standards, providing exceptional customer service through product knowledge and a hospitality mindset. This individual is punctual, responsible, and maintains a high standard of cleanliness and organization behind the bar. Performs other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU’LL DO : Adhere to company policy and State and Federal regulations regarding service of alcohol including taking all steps necessary to ensure proper age of all persons consuming alcohol served on the premises and refusing to serve any person who appears to be intoxicated or might become intoxicated from consuming additional alcohol. Effectively deal with multiple customers and communicate customer requests or concerns to other associates and manager on duty. Effectively operate POS system to ring in customer orders and control the flow of cash. Demonstrate current and working knowledge of food options, drip coffee, cold beverage, espresso bar, wine, beer and varieties of alcohol. Completes the Barista Training Program. Understands company health and safety best practices. Follows training and demonstrates skills to provide an exceptional customer experience. Educate, sample, and serve customers food and beverage products. Opens and/or closes area following appropriate checklist, verifies completion with Manager on Duty prior to leaving the area. Maintains stock levels and follows merchandising, signing and product presentation standards. Connects with customers to build relationships and seeks to exceed their expectations. Can identify problems, take action as appropriate and proactively communicates ideas for possible solutions to a manager. Understands the importance of meeting store goals, while holding self- accountable for understanding business measures and store goals. Consistently uses operational tools and follows routines and procedures. Maintain personal hygiene and professional dress code to comply with company and Health Department standards. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. THINGS YOU’LL NEED High School Diploma required. Minimum of one year of restaurant/hospitality experience is required. Health department license or certification and/or alcohol certification as required by state or local requirements. A Food Handler's certificate may be required for food service employees who prepare, store or serve food at restaurants, coffee bars or any other food service establishment prior to starting employment in a food operation. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, reports, and procedure manuals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred but not required. Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Able to use a calculator. Must be able to make change using American monetary units. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to follow instructions. This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must be able to move and/or lift at least 30 lbs. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs. This position is required to use potentially hazardous equipment, such as coffee and espresso makers.   • Order and take delivery of supplies.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Prepare specialty foods, such as pizzas, fish and chips, sandwiches, or tacos, following specific methods that usually require short preparation time.
