California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), also known as Cal State Bakersfield or CSU Bakersfield, is a public university located in Bakersfield, California. On a 375-acre (152 ha) campus, it was created in 1965 as Kern State College and officially in 1968 as California State College Bakersfield, becoming the 20th institution in the 23-campus California State University system. The first classes began on October 1, 1970. The institution provides 45 different Bachelor's degrees as well as 21 different Master's degrees.
