California State University, East Bay is a public research center and academic institution and is a part of the California State University system, which includes a network of 23 institutions across the state. The East Bay branch was founded in 1957, established as the Almeda State College, serving the counties of Almeda and parts of Contra Costa, and was constructed under the California Master Plan for Higher Education. Currently, the university hosts 136 undergraduate and 60 post-baccalaureate areas of study, with its College of Business and Economics being the premier flagship program at the university, which has gained global recognition. The main campus of the university is present at Hayward, with satellite facilities present in Concord and Oakland, encompassing a suburban campus of 200 acres.
