What does a Category Manager do?

As Category Managers, we manage a group or category of product’s pricing and overall promotion maximizing customers' appeal to increase sales and profitability of the business driving sustainable growth. We analyze data and insights to determine industry and consumer trends to devise long-term development strategies for product categories, with exit strategies for unsuccessful products. We foster trusted relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services than our competitors.

Core tasks:

  • responsible for budget development and revenue for the category
  • ensure product availability that meets consumer demands by placing orders
  • determine the positioning on selves of a product category to maximize visibility
