I worked for CBRE for 9 years from 2015-2024. In my Learning & Development role, I had significant autonomy and an impact on employees that was fulfilling and engaging. By and large, employees followed the company’s RISE values, which created an environment of collaboration, mutual respect and excellence.

Pros and Cons
The company’s RISE values and a collaborative environment.
Sometimes long hours and big expectations. I loved my job so I rarely minded.

It was my first job after graduating. Although the pay was not great, I was grateful for the opportunity. My team had great energy, and my boss was supportive. However, when I got promoted to a corporate position, the energy was terrible, and the processes were disorganized and chaotic. To make matters worse, there were numerous layoffs which caused a lot of stress.

Pros and Cons
Hybrid position, they are inclusive, great training and they give you opportunities to start
Massive layoff and rehire others to substitute after 1 year

I worked for them for 9 years. My position went away when the account that I worked for was bought out by another company. At that time I had the choice to either stay with the Union building that I worked in or stay with CBRE. To make a long story short, CBRE won't hire me back! They respond to my resume with sorry we chose a better candidate. Basically they want people to work for less than scale across the board... They'll chew you up and spit you out like you're nothing when you get to a point that you're worth more money!

Pros and Cons
Good culture but the pay not so great!
The pay and they don't pay what you're worth unless you're corporate

I was hired on to change the perceptions and deliver results in our Workplace Solutions division, I was given the latitude to make changes with guidance of course, as well as terrific upper level managemnt support. Sadly the term of the Contract expired and I transitioned to a different provider with the same client .

Pros and Cons
Great support and upward mobility
Contracts are not long enough!

Pros and Cons
work events like company softball game, Thirsty Thursdays (1 a month), Holiday party, bus pass
can be high stress at peak times but the teams are solid

CBRE took over the vendor contract for Google Mail Services in August of 2021. They came in promising such high hopes only to create a toxic work environment with incompetent upper management who had no knowledge of what shipping is at Google. They threw away or trashed packages that were being held in the warehouse for regular and executive employees. They encourage employees to report trivia incidents to Human Resources and deal out harsh justice . They really do not care for the employees that they have and seek to replace the ones there with their friends .

Pros and Cons
Google as a company is a wonderful place to work with a lot of perks.
They should vet the vendor companies better

From day 1, I should have known this was not an organized company. Day 1 orientation was a complete crap show. Laptops did not arrive for weeks after starting. There was no real training until months after starting. Jobs were thrown at me to complete without any explanation. Months into the job I figured things out on my own with no recognition for bring in my own laptop and using my personal cell phone. Getting reimbursed for basic office supply needs was a joke. I DO NOT recommend working for CBRE.

Pros and Cons
There really are now.
No training, no communication, lack of leadership...

Worked as a Chief Engineer for their Orange County area Commeracil properties, was involved with many remodeling projects for the interior and exterior of their properties my property Manger was a great person with lots of knowledge and I learned a lot from her about lease agreements, sales, and overall commercial property investments. Moved on from the company as I had a better opportunity for career advancement as Engineering Manager for high rise properties Owned by state, government ,

Pros and Cons

Sometimes this company likes to flip properties thus you might need to relocate

I had a regional manager who lied to my face about a pending promotion, not allowing me to try for it, while promising it to one of my co-workers who was immediately promoted after I had waited three months to hear. The co-worker in turn told her stories about me, which were untrue. This included him telling the regional that I had done nothing all day but play on my computer, when I was the one that checked in and unloaded a truck and put away all of the inventory - by myself. He decided one day to write me up for something stupid, but instead of giving me the write up, he left it on another co-workers desk for them to see. Their HR refused to address any of the issues, including leaving the write-up for everyone to see.

Pros and Cons
Started with one regional manager who was very nice, they promoted someone who should never had it.
No support from management

CBRE Group grew to be a large enterprise organization. Promotions in my service line were based more on relationships with senior people and prior organizations than on work experience or market knowledge. The back of the house support teams - Accounting and HR diverted a lot of their responsibilities onto property management staff at the field level which created more hardship than support to the client facing teams. Back office began to dictate how to deal with clients than deferring to the market/client facing teams.

Pros and Cons
A large and strong service platform to support clients.
You are pigeon holed in your job. The company benefits themselves vs advancement of the employee

I left a good job for what I was promised was a good position with at least a year work. The job lasted less than a month and the contract was lost. I was very thorough during the interview to make sure that the contract was secure. I was lied to and when the contract was lost CBRR did nothing to place me or refer me.

Pros and Cons
None at all
Don't trust them.
