Since 1970, Center for Human Services has served children, teenagers, adults, and families as a community-based nonprofit youth and family services agency. Creative Life Foundation and Shoreline Youth Services founded CHS in 1970 and 1972, respectively. The work counselling families and promoting drug and alcohol prevention began here, but it initially primarily served Shoreline residents. In 1982, these two groups combined and adopted the name 'Center for Human Services. It recognizes and value the community's diversity, and it is dedicated to being an inclusive organization that prioritizes social equity and ensures that everyone feels secure, respected, and valued. CHS believes that the most important aspect of a community's strengthening is to strengthen its citizens and their families through culturally competent preventive and response programs.
