The Marianist Chaminade University of Honolulu is a private institute in Honolulu, Hawaii. Chaminade was established in 1955 by the Society of Mary and is based at the base of St. Louis Heights in Kaimuki, Honolulu. Chaminade University offers 23 bachelor's degree programs and five master's degree programs. Biology, accounting, criminal justice, education, forensic sciences, interior design, nursing, and religious studies are among the school's specialties. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has awarded Chaminade University accreditation (WASC). Father William Joseph Chaminade, a French Catholic priest who escaped persecution during the French Revolution, was honored with the name Chaminade University of Honolulu. In 1817, he founded the Society of Mary.
