Headquartered in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, Chanel is a house of trends centered on the women’s high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods and accessories. It was founded by Coco Chanel in 1909. The product brands of the company have been personified by male and female fashion models, idols and actresses and is also well known for the perfume Chanel No. 5 and the Chanel Suit. Fashion is popularized in the company by both high fashion and everyday fashion by replacing structured silhouettes which are based upon the corset and the bodice, with garments that were functional and at the same time flattering to the figure of the woman. Chanel is also distinguished for its Haute Couture collections which are presented twice in a year in Paris and for having a huge number of specialized suppliers who are collectively known as the Metiers d’Art. The company employs more than 28,000 people across the world at the end of 2019.
